The Nigerian Senate has appointed Senator Orji Uzor Kalu as the pioneer Chairman of the Senate Committee on the South-East Development Commission. Senate President Godswill Akpabio made the announcement during Tuesday’s plenary.
Kalu, who previously chaired the Senate Committee on Privatisation, will now oversee the commission’s efforts in civil restitution, erosion control, security restoration, and infrastructure development. Senator Ken Eze was named vice chairman, with other committee members to be announced later.
Meanwhile, the Senate also confirmed an 18-member board for the commission, with Dr. Emeka Nworgu as Chairman and Mark Okoye as Managing Director.
