Senator reacts to alleged sponsorship of bandits to Saudi Arabia for pilgrimage

Bauchi South Senator Shehu Buba has denied allegations of sponsoring bandits for a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia. In a statement released by his Legislative Assistant, Hassan Guruji, Buba addressed reports linking him to suspected bandit Abubakar Aliyu, who is currently in custody.

The senator confirmed that both Aliyu and Zainab Aliyu were registered for the pilgrimage based on nominations from community and religious leaders. He clarified that while Zainab was screened and allowed to participate, Aliyu was arrested during the screening process.

Buba emphasized that he has no ties to criminal activities and is committed to combating banditry as chairman of the Senate Committee on National Security. He reiterated his dedication to improving security in Nigeria and urged the public to avoid misinformation regarding his actions.
