In Imo State, gunmen have set fire to the residence of former Senator Frank Ibezim and the National Open University study center in Nsu, Ehime Mbano. The Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, condemned the attacks, describing them as part of a disturbing trend of violence that threatens community safety.
The police have deployed tactical units to apprehend those responsible and urged the public to avoid spreading misinformation that could exacerbate tensions. Senator Ibezim clarified that recent media coverage incorrectly suggested plans to settle internally displaced persons at the university, asserting that the facility is intended for skills training.
The state government also refuted claims about establishing an IDP camp, emphasizing that the training center aims to benefit local youth. The police are committed to ensuring justice for the victims of these violent acts.
