The Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics, SSANIP, has suspended its planned three-day warning strike. The strike was initially set to begin on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, over issues like career progression, the BSc./HND dichotomy, and alleged position usurpation by teaching staff in polytechnics.
Following a conciliatory meeting with the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Mohammad Maigari Dangyadi, and other government representatives, SSANIP announced the suspension.
The meeting resulted in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, with the government pledging to address the union’s demands. SSANIP’s leadership has urged members to remain united as they monitor the implementation of the agreements.
