Kaduna-based cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has debunked reports that he was invited for questioning by the Department of State Security Service (DSS) over his remarks against the military.
He made this known while speaking to the press, after presiding over a Jummat service at the Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna on Friday.
According to Gumi, his interventions with bandits were done in collaboration with the support of the government and security agencies, hence he did not commit any offence, insisting that he never made any snide remarks against the military during his recent live interview on national television.

Contrary to the Sheik’s submission, however, the DSS, through the service’s spokesman, Peter Afunaya, had earlier on Friday said it invited the cleric for questioning, noting that such an invite was not out of place.
Although the DSS did not confirm the rationale behind the invitation, observers have suggest it may be connected to a recent remark made by the sheik – suggesting the military could be colluding with bandits.
