Sir Angus Ibezim Commends The State Ministry of Works On The Introduction of Speed Breakers.

The Immediate past special assistant to Governor Willie Obiano on traffic matters, Sir Angus Ibezim has commended the state ministry of works for the introduction of Speed breakers at some selected flashpoints in the state.

Sir Angus Ibezim, a Federal Road Safety Corps Assistant Corps Marshall now Retired, made this statement while reacting to a speed breaker being introduced at Ogba axis of Mbaukwu, Awka South Council Area, Anambra State.

According to the Road Safety expert, The speed breakers, popularly called Speed bumps, were erected, on recommendations following incessant outcries by many road users on excessive speeds by some vehicle drivers.

He explained that a speed breaker is for intervention, as a last measure, and sometimes very temporal, when the Main road signs “fail” to educate the vehicle operators in reducing speed and preventing road accidents.

He observed, that few of the bumps are capable of causing damage to low suspension vehicles, referring to the 2 bumps installed at Ogba axis.

He commended The state Ministry of Works for installing enough informative/ warning/ regulatory road signs along Nibo – Mbaukwu – Agulu Road.

While urging the authority of the concerned Village to effect necessary corrections, Sir ibezim pleaded with road users to exercise patience as efforts are being made to reduce affected bumps.
