The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Ibok-Ete Ibas, has announced the release of withheld local government allocations.
Speaking in Port Harcourt, Ibas assured heads of local government administrators that steps are being taken to ensure prompt payment of workers’ salaries, saying he feels the pain of the workers.
He also stressed financial accountability and pledged to scrutinize public fund management.
On security, Ibas called for collaboration with traditional rulers and security agencies.
Meanwhile, NULGE President Clifford Paul praised Ibas’ appointment and urged him to prioritize the welfare of workers owed two months’ salaries.
