The Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has renewed its call for the Federal Government to address several outstanding demands, including the payment of three months’ withheld salaries and 50 billion naira in earned allowances. SSANU’s National President, Mr. Mohammed Ibrahim, made this appeal on Friday while speaking to the press ahead of the association’s 3rd Quadrennial National Delegates Conference, set for November 13 in Abuja.
According to Ibrahim, the disregard for collective bargaining agreements undermines trust and disrupts the academic environment, impacting the welfare and morale of SSANU members. He acknowledged that the government has paid one month of the four months of withheld salaries, expressing hope for continued progress.
The conference, themed “Respecting Collective Bargaining Agreements and Industrial Peace in a Democracy,” will also mark the beginning of SSANU’s electoral process to elect new leaders for the next four years. Ibrahim emphasized the association’s commitment to transparency and integrity in the electoral process and urged members to remain united in their cause.
