Nigeria’s head coach, Finidi George, has assured fans that the Super Eagles are fully focused on their objective ahead of their crucial match against South Africa. In a brief, four-word statement, George emphasized the team’s dedication to their goal.
The Super Eagles are set to face Bafana Bafana on Friday, June 7, at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State. This match is a vital part of the qualifying series for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Super Eagles need a victory to overtake South Africa and challenge Group C leaders, Rwanda.
However, preparations have been challenging. Injuries and withdrawals have ruled out key players such as Victor Osimhen, Nathan Tella, and captain Williams Troost-Ekong. The recent labor strike also delayed the arrival of eight players, leaving Finidi George with only 15 of the 23 invited players for Monday’s training.
On a positive note, the team received a boost on Tuesday with the arrival of Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Frank Onyeka, and Paul Onuachu.
Confident that his plans are coming together, Coach Finidi George took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to reassure fans, stating that there is no deviating from the team’s primary target.
