According to FRSC, Anambra State, at about 10.45am on Friday, that was yesterday, a serious Road Traffic Crash involving a Toyota Corolla Saloon car with registration number FGG450DS, driven by one Jude Owunba, and a Suzuki Shuttle Bus with enlistment number, UMD196XA, was recorded at Unizik Junction, along Awka-Onitsha expressway.
According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the Toyota Corolla was on top speed when it rammed into the shuttle bus.
A total of Six male adults were involved in the crash.
One sustained some degrees of injury.
The Sector Public Education Officer, Mr Pascal Anigbo, however, noted that no death was recorded in the crash.
He said the injured victim was rushed to the an unknown hospital by sympathizers before the arrival of the FRSC rescue team from Anambra State Sector Command, Awka.
Also, at about 11am yesterday, Friday, a white coloured Mercedes Benz 911 with registration number ASB283ZH, and an inscription that reads, “DO GOOD”, was reported to have knocked down a woman who was crossing the expressway from Chisco Park to Relief Market, at Upper Iweka, Onitsha.
According to eyewitnesses, the woman was already at the center of the road when she was ordered to go back, by a group of boys, suspected to be touts.
It was on her way back that she was knocked down by the moving truck.
The injured woman was rushed to Toronto Hospital by a good Nigerian, while the suspected touts were apprehended by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, Okpoko.
The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State, CC Andrew Kumapayi, has again, strongly warned drivers against over-speeding and other forms of dangerous driving.
He also cautioned pedestrians to always make use of pedestrian bridges where available, and wished the injured victims quick recovery.
CC Kumapayi asserted that Road safety is everybody’s responsibility, therefore, everybody should join hands in ensuring safety on roads.
