HRH Igwe Godwin Ezeilo ‘ Obu Nanka Kingdom on Saturday 12th June 2021 hosted YSFON competition. Welcoming everyone to the opening ceremony of the occasion, he commended the state Chairman Engr Akonam Obiefuna and his Executives for their good job so far.
The opening match which ended on a goalless draw was played by World FA and Stallions FA (Group A) U-17 . On the other hand, Angels FA lost 0:2 to Aguata Grasroots FA (Group B) .
Igwe Ezeilo , while commending them for the talent displayed , prayed that in future they will represent Anambra and Nigeria in the National levels and the idea of hosting the first ever Youths Sports Federation of Nigeria ( YSFON) Anambra Chapter tournament, led by Engr Obiefuna will leave a solid social impact. He said the youths stand to benefit from the state people can come out to invest in the youths development and sports.
Igwe Godwin Ezeilo said that football sports brings everybody together.
Ex- super falcons player and coach Ambassador Maureen Mmadu, who was live at the opening ceremony of Igwe Nanka YSFON U-17 Cup at Neros Stadium Nanka, said that as Ambassador of female football in Anambra she will lend her full support to the YSFON and youths, both males and females in general.
She expressed her gratitude to the organizers, especially the Obu Nanka and everybody that made it a success and said it is a very good platform for the youths and an avenue to engage them to get best from them and to take them away from crime in the society.
On his part, the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria( YSFON) Anambra state Chapter Engr Akonam Obiefuna, commended the dignitaries present and solicited for support to make this (YSFON) Median edition a success and promised to do anything humanly possible to set a standard in Anambra and Nigeria at large with (YSFON).
The YSFON Organizers have marked Seven (7) centers for the competitions ‘ Nwafor Orizu College of Education Nsugbe, Idemili, Nnewi, Awka Playing pitch, Awka Old Stadium, Ekwulobia, and Neros stadium that hosted the opening ceremony.
