The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) , Anambra State chapter has congratulated the governor of Anambra State, Prof Chukwuma Soludo on his one year anniversary as the helmsman of the state.
The chairman of SWAN in the state, Anthony Oji, who spoke after the one year anniversary town hall meeting at the International Convention Center in Awka, on Saturday, while commending the success of his administration in the sports sector, expressed worry that Governor Soludo did not mention activities in the sports sector as part of his achievement. He said that it was worrisome that the Sports sector could not get a mention during the governors account of stewardship .
He said that team Anambra that won six gold, nine silver and 24 bronze medals at the National Sports Festival in Asaba when Gov Soludo ‘s administration was only nine months but the Governor was yet to receive the team and reward the deserving athletes and coaches .
The chairman commended Soludo for appointing a qualified sports personality bas Chairman of the Anambra State Sports Development Commission, adding that he had implicit confidence in the ability of the management to deliver. He also urged Soludo to take sports as his pet project and adequately fund it , in the teeming interest of talented Anambra youths, with regards to economic empowerment, entertainment and public image values it possesses.
