Igwe Egwuonwu who spoke on the 29th anniversary of the state, noted that growth became significant in the past 16 years and listed the ongoing Umueri International Cargo Airport, International Conference Centre project in Awka, the 2nd Niger bridge project, and the flyovers in Awka, among other achievements as some advancements recorded in the state within the period under review.

He ranked the state as the best in infrastructural development in Nigeria and expects the citizenry to join hands to move the state to the next level.

Igwe Egwuonwu further reacted to the recent Massacre of Igbo citizens in Enugu by security operatives under the guise of Police/IPOB clash, describing the killings as unfortunate.

The Royal father wondered why unarmed citizens of the country who were exercising their right of expression were being murdered in cold blood, while members of Boko Haram Sect, and other armed groups are not being prosecuted for their heinous crimes.

He called on Ndigbo to summon an all embracing summit to discuss their future in Nigeria.

In a related development, an Amawbia based legal expert, Barrister Chike Oranye, described such killings of Igbo people as senseless attacks which need urgent investigation and instant justice against the perpetrators of the dastardly acts.
