Three-storey Building Collapses in Enugu.

A three-storey tenement building located at Nweke Awkuzu Street in Ugbene area of Abakpa Nike, in Enugu metropolis, collapsed on Friday evening.

The building is behind the popular Timber Market in Enugu.

According to an eye witness, the building was nearly completed, roofed, and remaining fixing of windows and painting.

The source added that for over four years now, the house had been like that, without tenants legally occupying it, but added that many people occupied the place unlawfully.

The source also noted that besides unlawful occupants of the house and those who built temporal zinc structures to live inside the place, there are other possible casualties, because the house is located at a relatively business area.

Casualty figures, level of damage, injuries sustained, damages inflicted on the nearby buildings, or passersby are yet to be ascertained.
