President Bola Tinubu has officially handed over the chairmanship of ECOWAS to President Julius Maada Bio of Sierra Leone.

The announcement was made during the 67th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government held Sunday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Tinubu, the outgoing Chairperson, described it as a profound honour to have led the regional body and thanked member states for their support.
The session marks the conclusion of Tinubu’s tenure, which focused on regional security and economic stability.
President Bio now assumes leadership amid ongoing challenges across West Africa, including security, democracy, and regional cooperation.
