President Bola Tinubu has ordered sanctions against civil servants drawing salaries after relocating abroad.
Speaking at an award night organized by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, President Tinubu, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, expressed dismay over the situation.
He directed that the culprits must refund the fraudulently collected money, and their supervisors and department heads should be punished for aiding and abetting this fraud.
President Tinubu stated that measures have been taken to address this issue, but they must ensure those responsible are held accountable and restitution is made.
To commemorate the 2024 Civil Service Week, outstanding civil servants were honored, with top prizes including a brand new 2023 JAC JS4 Luxury Model SUV, a 2-bedroom semi-detached bungalow, and a serviced plot of land. The Nigeria Customs Service also donated 6 Toyota Camry cars for future awards.
Mercy Ilori of the Ministry of Transportation won the star prize, expressing gratitude on behalf of the awardees.
