Sports The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, SWAN, Anambra Chapter, concluded its week on Saturday 17th December, 2022. The week-long event featured sports activities like table tennis, scrabble, football and a get together where important issues affecting the sports sectors were highlighted and deliberated on.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo who was represented by his Chief of Staff, Ernest Ezeajughi, attributed his blueprint on sports as part of his solution driven spirit. He sought the partnership of SWAN in the state to provide the needed support by sensitizing the people of the need for sports and the importance as it helps in promoting good health.
Ezeajughi said that the Soludo’s administration has its five policy pillar agenda as Human Capital Development and Transformation, Law and Order, Economic Transformation , Social and Security, as security is needed for people to freely engage in sports in the communities, schools and stadiums.
In his speech, SWAN chairman, Tony Oji commended his members who made out time to cover the just concluded National Sports Festival Event in Delta state and urged the Governor to give the Sports Commission Chairman Hon PAtrick Onyedum Estate the necessary support to improve sports in Anambra state, and to bring back state sports festival with school sports to improve and develop young talents through sports.
Present at the occasion were Veteran Sports Journalist and Presenter Ikem Asika, National Vice President of SWAN South-East zone Chukwulota Chigozie, Philip Balepo, APC flag bearer for Anambra central senatorial district Chief Kodilichukwu Okelekwe , among others.
