

Traditional Rulers in Anambra State have advised police officers to embrace professionalism as well as shun illegal arrest and brutality.
The traditional rulers made their feelings known while reacting to the newly commissioned Zone 13 Nigeria Police Force temporary headquarters, in Ukpo, Dunukofia local government Area of Anambra State.



In their separate submissions, the traditional rulers, Igwe Chijioke Nwankwo of Nawfia, Igwe Ben Izuchukwu of Umueri as well as Igwe Peter Uyanwa of Ukwulu, charged police officers to bring their wealth of experience to bear in the new police station .
The Royal Fathers expressed happiness that people of the area will no longer go through the burden of transporting themselves to Umuahia for their cases.
While appreciating Governor Willie Obiano’s giant strides
in the area of security, the traditional rulers urged police officers posted to the zone to ensure that effective policng is brought closer to the people.
Also speaking, the traditional rulers of Enugwu Ukwu, Igwe Ralp Ekpe, that of Umuawulu, Igwe Joel Maduadichie, and their Owelle Ancient Kingdom counterpart, Igwe Anthony Onyekwere, enjoined the police to shun what they called heartlessness, brutality, unwarranted arrest or excessive and illegal use of force against civilians.
The Royal Fathers further harped on the need for police to shun intimidation or verbal abuse and false allegations among other acts of victimization and enjoined the citizens to see the police as friends of the civilians, and the civilians, friends of the police.
They called on President Mohammed Buhari to deploy more infrastructural facilities that would uplift the living standard of the people of the zone, while commending Prince Arthur Eze, for facilitating the project.

In his planned efforts to ensure effective decongestion of major traffic flash points in Anambra State, the Commissioner for Transport, Engineer Afam Mbanefo, has visited and enlisted the Support of the Anambra State Police Command .
This was made known when the Transport Commissioner paid a visit to the State Commissioner of Police, CP John Abang, in his office.
Issues discussed and agreed on during the meeting was provision of Security by the police during the planned massive decongestion of major traffic flash points in the state.
Recall that on assumption of office as the Commissioner for Transport three weeks ago, Commissioner Mbanefo, among other programs, listed total decongestion of major traffic points in Anambra State as priority project in line with vision of Governor Willie Obiano.
The Commissioner who led the team from the Ministry of Transport, has also met and got Support of ATMA, Federal Road Safety Corps, Ocha Brigade, DSS, VIO, the Army etc for the planned decongestion of major traffic flash points in the State.
Also Last week, Team Ministry of transport led by the Commissioner, held meetings with various driver’s Unions, such as the Luxury buses Owners Association, where he also informed and enlisted their support on the planned massive decongestion of major traffic flashpoints in Anambra state.
