Anambra State Sector of the Federal Road Safety Corps, says two male adults lost their lives and other Six, (4 male adults and 2 female adults) sustained serious injuries in a multiple Road Traffic Crash (RTC) which occurred near Obosi Police Station, along Mike Ajegbo Road, Obosi.
RC Pascal Anigbo, the Sector Public Education Officer, who disclosed this in Awka, said the incident occurred at about 9am on Monday.
He said the crash which involved a total of Twenty One victims (12 male adults and 9 female adults), was reportedly caused by Speed Limit Violation and Loss of Control.
He added that the Five vehicles involved were, a DAF Truck with registration number MAR210XA (who’s driver reportedly lost control of, due to over-speeding), a Toyota Camry with registration number BWR807JV, and a Tricycle without enlistment number.
According Mr Anigbo, other vehicles involved in the crash were, a Mitsubishi bus with registration number ZLL530XA belonging to Southeast Mass Transit and a Mercedes Benz 200 saloon car with registration number ALL977ASB.
He hinted that the injured victims were rushed to Chukwura Hospital, Obosi by people around the area, while the corpses of the dead were deposited at Righteous Undertaker Funeral Home Service Mortuary.
The Sector Commander Federal Road Safety Corps Anambra State, CC Andrew Kumapayi, strongly warned drivers against driving above recommended speed limits.
He cautioned that they should rather drive with common sense speed limits to be able to gain control of the vehicle at all times and avoid unnecessary road traffic crashes.
Mr Kumapayi expressed his condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured persons quick recovery.
