Two die in Anambra road crash

Two persons were killed in a road accident at Azia junction, Ihiala by Owerri-Ihiala Expressway, Anambra State, on Friday.
The accident involved one unidentified commercial driver of a Mercedes truck.

It was gathered that the accident occurred at about 9:30 am and the cause of the crash was attributed to excessive speed and loss of control.

An eyewitness said the driver, who was on top speed, lost control and rammed into a big gutter by the roadside and crashed.

Confirming the accident, the acting Sector Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps, Anambra State, Margaret Onabe, said two male adults were involved in the crash.

The two male adults, the driver and his conductor were killed. The dead victims were taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Mortuary, Ihiala by good Samaritans before the arrival of the FRSC rescue team.

The Sector Commander Anambra State, Corps Commander Adeoye Irelewuyi, sympathised with the family of the dead victims.
He warned motorists to desist from excessive speed and drive within the safe speed limit they can control.
