In a new move to work out the misunderstanding between Nigeria and the United Arab Emirates(UAE) overflights, the UAE civil aviation authorities have advised Nigeria’s Air Peace to consider flying to any other airport in the UAE that has additional slots for it instead of insisting on taking three slots at the Sharjah airport.

Recall that in response to the Nigerian Government limiting Emirates flight to once a week, the airline on Friday announced an indefinite suspension of their flights into Nigeria.

In the letter to Nigeria’s Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika, UAE’s General Civil Aviation Authority, GCAA explained that Air Peace had initially operated at Sharjah airport before moving to Dubai Airport and back to Sharjah again. The letter stated that following such moves, it would be difficult for any airport to maintain their slots when they ceased operating at that airport.

The GCAA said it will support Air Peace if it considers flying its two other flights to any other UAE airport.
