The United Nations Relief and Work Agency (UNRWA) has reported a mass exodus from Rafah, with nearly 450,000 Palestinians fleeing the area this past week.

The displacement comes as Israeli tanks intensify their assault on the southern Gaza city, escalating the conflict with Hamas.

The Israeli Defence Force (IDF) is advancing into eastern Rafah, targeting what it describes as “terror targets.” Civilians have been urged to evacuate for their safety. Operations in Zeitoun and Jabalia are also underway to counteract Hamas militants.

The conflict has significantly impacted Gaza’s population, with a substantial portion displaced and reports of casualties and injuries continuing to rise.
