UNICEF has reaffirmed its commitment to an inclusive social protection policy aimed at addressing various vulnerabilities in Anambra State.

The Chief Field Officer of UNICEF in Enugu, Mrs. Juliet Chiluwe, made this commitment during a 3-day stakeholders engagement forum organized by the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning in collaboration with UNICEF.

She expressed concerns over several concerning indicators in the state, including a high number of out-of-school children, low access to handwashing facilities, and a low percentage of children entering primary school.

UNICEF believes that implementing an all-inclusive social protection policy will help improve these indicators and benefit the state’s vulnerable populations.

The Deputy Governor of Anambra State, Dr. Onyekachi Ibezim, noted that this policy aligns with Governor Chukwuma’s administration’s long-term vision to uplift the lives of the poor and vulnerable in the state.
