The University of Jos has suspended all academic activities for the 2019/2020 session and ordered students on campus to vacate their hostels pending a return of normalcy in Jos and parts of Plateau state currently facing insecurity.

The institution’s actions were contained in a statement signed by its Registrar, Monday Danjem on Friday.

According to the statement, the action was taken following an Emergency Meeting of Management and the Committee of Deans, Directors and Provost of the University which held on Friday 20th August 2021, due to the risky and precarious insecurity situation in the state which led to the loss of lives of some students and the imposition of dusk to dawn curfew.

The School also appealed to the joint patrol team of armed soldiers and other law enforcement
agencies to beef up security and ensure that students are adequately protected as they evacuate their hostels to safe destinations.

This is the second time in three months academic activities in the institution will be stalled due to similar reasons.
