US Vice President, Kamala Harris on Friday became the first woman to hold US presidential power after President Joe Biden went under anesthesia for a routine colonoscopy procedure.

The president had handed over power to her before the procedure, which gave her control of the US military and nuclear weapons for 85 minutes.

Press Secretary, Jen Psaki who noted that a similar temporary transfer of power – following the constitutional process – had been carried out when President George W. Bush underwent the same procedure in 2002 and 2007, had indicated that the vice president will work from her office in the West Wing .
Psaki added that a written summary of the findings from the president’s exam would be released subsequently.

Recall that prior to this, Ms Harris had already broken barriers as the country’s first Black and first South Asian vice president.
