The Managing Director Awka Capital Development Authority (ACTDA), Ven. Amaechi Okwuosa has emphasized his stand to ensure that Awka Capital City has a befitting look.
Ven. Okwuosa said this while leading the Agency’s Development Control Team to open up blocked access road at Arthur Eze Avenue, Awka and also demolish shanties around Roban Stores, Awka close to the Central Bank Anambra office.
Speaking to newsmen during the exercise, Okwuosa reiterated his stance as the state capital city development boss positing that he will leave no stones unturned in fishing out developers who embark on construction of illegal structures and shanties insisting that ACTDA was fully prepared to enforce the set building standards already mapped out by the Authority.
The Control Team went with Men of the Nigerian Civil Defence Corps and Men of Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA) Brigade were on ground to ensure peace and orderliness during the exercise.
In reaction to the demolition, Mr Livinus Okoye, a Carpenter who plys his trade some distance away from Roban Stores said that they were served a vacation order several times but that they did not take the notice as seriously.
Also a hair stylist that gave her name as Njideka, pleaded for leniency until they could secure another place for their business.
