The Ven. Tochukwu Sagacious Ikezue has described Alex Otti as the face of good governance in Nigeria, citing the rapid transformation recorded in Abia State under his administration.
Speaking during his weekly media parley, Ikezue praised Governor Otti’s leadership style, noting that the state has witnessed significant progress in infrastructure, financial management, healthcare, and education in less than three years.
According to him, one of the administration’s most notable achievements is the reduction of Abia’s debt burden. He said Governor Otti inherited liabilities estimated at ₦191.2 billion but has reportedly reduced them to about ₦48.4 billion without taking fresh loans. He described the development as a strong example of fiscal discipline and prudent governance.
The cleric also commended the ongoing road revolution across the state, particularly the reconstruction of major roads such as Port Harcourt Road, Aguiyi Ironsi Boulevard, Ohanku Road and Obohia Road, alongside several rural and urban roads. He said the projects have improved transportation and revived economic activities, especially in Aba.
In the health sector, Ikezue highlighted the retrofitting of 200 primary healthcare centres under Project Ekwueme, as well as plans for the Abia Medical City, describing them as evidence of the government’s commitment to quality healthcare delivery.
He also praised reforms in education, including the construction of smart schools, teacher recruitment, and increased budgetary allocation to the sector, saying the measures would strengthen human capital development in the state.
Ikezue further applauded the signing of the ₦1.016 trillion 2026 Budget of Acceleration and New Possibilities and the unveiling of the Abia State 25-Year Development Plan (2025–2050), noting that both initiatives reflect a clear vision for long-term growth and development.
According to him, Governor Otti has restored confidence in governance through transparency, improved internally generated revenue, and the delivery of democratic dividends without borrowing for recurrent expenditure.
“With these achievements, I can boldly say Governor Alex Otti is the face of good governance in Nigeria,” he stated.
