Drama unfolded in Port Harcourt Friday as supporters of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and suspended Rivers Governor Siminalayi Fubara clashed during a tense town hall meeting.
Trouble began when Grassroots Development Initiative leader Bright Amaewhule credited his group not Wike for Fubara’s rise.
His comments prompted Labour Party’s Hilda Dokubo to briefly walk out. Emotions ran high as another speaker, Kenwell Ibanibo, questioned Fubara’s impeachment, accusing a “godfather” of controlling Rivers politics.
Heated exchanges followed, with Wike supporters and Fubara loyalists shouting over one another. The chaos forced security intervention and brief speaker withdrawals. Activist Ann-Kio Briggs later clashed with APC’s Chibike Ikenga, underlining the fragile peace in the state.
