Nigerians have been calling for restructuring which, they claim, will help to reduce the power given to the federal government.
Adding his voice to the call for restructuring, Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka, said Nigeria can’t remain together unless the government is decentralized.
On a television show last week, Soyinka said that there was no hope of Nigeria continuing together as one nation if the Federal Government fails to do the needful.
He said that though some people use the word, restructure, he said that if Nigeria fails to decentralize as fast as possible, the country cannot stay together.
He also said that he wasn’t the only one who has said it as ex-heads of state, analysts, economists have also called for decentralization.
He said that various agitation from people which has caused some demonstrations even to the point of defying police is a call for the government to act in the right direction.
