Woman, Her 4 Children Die Of Suspected Food Poison In Anambra
A middle-aged woman and her four children have died at Abubor Nnewichi, Nnewi, in Nnewi North LGA of Anambra state due to suspected food poison.
A source said that the incident occurred on Monday affecting the Okwuchukwu Onyimmadu family, Mbosi in Ihiala LGA, but resident in Nnewichi.
The victims who died simultaneously after consuming the food were identified as the Mother, Onyinye, and the children… Miracle; Dominion; Amanda and Kosi.
The source said that though the father did not eat the poisonous food, he is battling to survive at a hospital where he was rushed to due to the trauma he underwent as a result of the incident.
It was gathered that two other siblings in the family, a boy and a girl, survived the incident because they were in the village and not living with their parents in the town.
However, the exact cause of the death is yet to be ascertained, but some people alleged that it was a take-away which they brought in from outside, while others said the deceased ate cassava food they prepared in their home.
When contacted, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, said the report had not reached his office.
