The Yobe State Police Command has arrested Haruna Mohammed, the suspected leader of a notorious terrorist gang. The arrest was made by the State Intelligence Department on June 16 in Nangillam village, Tarmuwa Local Government Area.
In a statement, Police Public Relations Officer Dungus Abdulkarim revealed that the 40-year-old Mohammed had been terrorizing towns, villages, and neighboring states, demanding money and valuables through menacing phone calls. One victim from Siminti Village reported that Mohammed had demanded N3 million, threatening to kill him and his family if the demand wasn’t met.
The police tracked and apprehended Mohammed, who has confessed to the crime and implicated other gang members. Authorities are currently trailing these associates.
The police have urged communities to promptly report any security breaches and assured the public of their commitment to eradicating criminal activities in Yobe State.
