Nigeria’s former minister of aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has queried the Defence Headquarters over its quick response to his statement and not the recent spate of terrorists’ attacks, especially the attack on the Kuje Custodial Centre
It will recalled that DHQ had dismissed the allegations that the Department of State Security (DSS) notified the military about an impending attack on Kuje Correctional Centre and a previous attack on a Kaduna-Abuja passenger train. It also claimed as false the allegations that soldiers Manning the prison were withdrawn hours before the attack.
Maj.-Gen. Jimmy Akpor, the Director of Defence Information noted that the allegations by Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Minister of Aviation, needed to clarified in the interest of members of the public who might be misled by the deliberate falsehood and the sensibilities of service personnel and their families who have been paying dearly to keep Nigerians safe, urging Nigerians to ignore him and the statement he made.
Akpor added that it was a shame that the former minister is ignorant of whose responsibility it is to guard the prison, given his allegations.
Fani-Kayode, responding on Sunday via his Twitter page, tweeted that is instructive that the @DefenceInfoNG can, within 2 days, respond to his video and yet cannot respond to the daily bombing, butchery, slaughter, kidnapping and terror that Nigerians have been subjected to over the last 7 years. Kayode said such insensitivity and incompetence is nauseating.
