Youths Advised To Embrace Agriculture And Shun Get Rich Quick Syndrome

Youths have been advised to embrace Agriculture and shuncthe get-rich-quick syndrome.

The traditional ruler of Ojoto, Igwe Gerald Mbamalu, gave the advice while answering questions from Journalists in his palace at ojoto in Idemili South LGA.

The traditional ruler stressed that youths engaging in Agriculture would help boost agricultural productivity and ensure food security.

The Monarch explained that get-rich-quick syndrome can lead to untimely death, and advised them to also guard against anti social activities such as drug abuse, Yahoo Plus and Oke Ite.

He noted that drug abuse and certain actions among youths can lead to Cultism, Murder, Armed Robbery rape, arson, Kidnapping , ritual killings and vandalism among others other crimes.

Igwe Mbamalu called for rehabilitation of youths who engage in drug abuse like Mmkpuru miri instead of being flogged as done in some Community.

On his part, the traditional ruler of Abacha Community also in Idemili, Igwe Godwin Nwabunwanne, noted that the devastating effects of Mmkpuru miri are better imagined than described as, according to him, Mmkpuru miri has translated to insecurity in the country, and expressed regrets that efforts by the government, Communities, religious leaders in battling the menace have not addressed the problems of drug abuse.

Igwe Nwabunwanne seized the opportunity to call on Ndi Igbo to embrace Igbo language and culture to save it from extinction even as he harped on the need to teach children how to cook local delicacies and how to dress in Igbo attires to preserve Igbo rich cultural heritage.
