144 Nigerians Stranded In Niger Republic Arrive Nigeria
The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, it has received another batch of one hundred and forty-four Nigerians stranded in Niger Republic have arrived the country .
NEMA Co-ordinator for Kano Territorial Office, Dr Nurudeen Abdullahi, disclosed this when he received the returnees at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano.
Dr Abdullahi, represented by the National Emergency Management Agency Kano Head of Human Resources, Mr Suleiman Sa’ad-Abubakar, said that the returnees were transported into Nigeria by SKY MALI Airlines, operated by Ethiopian airline.
He said that the returnees were brought back under the care of the International Organisation for Migration from Niamey through a voluntary repatriation programme.
The programme is for the distressed, who had left the country to seek greener pastures in various European countries and could not afford to return when their journey became frustrated.
He said that the returnees included one hundred and six male adults, sixteen female adults and twenty-two children.
Dr Abdullahi hinted that the returnees were from different parts of the country including Kano, Kaduna, Katsina, Abia, Sokoto, Edo, etc.
