The Anambra State government has denied News making rounds that a herd of cattle owned by Fulani herdsmen invaded the international airport in Umueri and destroyed crops in a nearby farm, despite the passage of the Anti-Open Grazing by the State House of Assembly and efforts by the government to resolve farmer-herder issues in the state.
The state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, C. Don Adinuba, made the denial while speaking to Newsmen on Friday.
Nothing that nothing could be further from the truth, the commissioner, disclosing, that cattle being bred in the Umueri area – which had been ongoing for many years, belong to Anambra farmers and investors not to any Fulani invaders, stressed that the perimeter fencing of the airport was up-to-date and cannot be breached easily by persons or cattle.
He went on to describe the report of the incident as fiction, stating that the report did not make any mention of cross-checking with the Anambra State government, the airport security or even the police, adding it was a move by some persons to discredit the Obiano government.
