The State State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, has appealed to President Muhammadu Buhari to come to the aid of the state as its forests have been taken over by terrorists, armed robbers, bandits and criminal elements.
Speaking to State House after meeting with President Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, the governor called for the establishment of another military training base in the forest bothering the three states of Kano, Kaduna, Bauchi and Plateau, to check the activities of the criminals and augument the current measures being taken by the government.
Noting that there were challenges all over the country, he expressed confidence that President Buhari is doing his best with other stakeholders in order to curtail the situation, adding that all hands should be on deck, especially governors and chairmen of local governments.
According to Ganduje, the Kano State government haf already taken some measures with the establishment of a military training ground in large forests bordering Kano, Kaduna and Bauchi and also not far away from Plateau, which had helped checkmate the activities of bandits in the area.
He also state that the state had introduced technology within the forest to monitor activities, as well as incorporated effective communication between the security network, with an improvement as well, in the network system within metropolitan Kano to enabling monitoring by CCTV more effective.
Speaking further, he also highlighted the adoption of community policing as a major step in intelligence gathering, declaring that Kano is one of the most peaceful states in the federation because of this multi-faceted approach in securing the state.
