Empowering Anaocha Youth: Chairman Ibekwe Launches Comprehensive Skills Acquisition Program
Anaocha Local Government Area is set to witness a transformative initiative as the Transition Chairman, Hon. Romanus Ibekwe, unveils an extensive skills acquisition program aimed at equipping the youth with essential vocational skills.
Hon. Ibekwe shared details of the program, which is expected to engage approximately 500 youths in various skill areas including tailoring, shoemaking, ICT training, cake baking, decoration, mechanics, solar installation, soap making, and cosmetics.
Addressing the pressing issue of youth unemployment, Hon. Ibekwe expressed his concern over the increasing number of graduates roaming the streets without jobs or practical skills. He emphasized the necessity of the skills acquisition program as a vital step to empower the youth, enabling them to become self-reliant and productive members of society.
“We are determined to equip our youth with the skills they need to thrive in today’s competitive job market. After their training, they will be organized into cooperatives, granting them access to loans and government grants,” Hon. Ibekwe assured.
The Chairman highlighted the quarterly training schedule, ensuring continuous opportunities for skill development. He noted that two training centers have already been established at the secretariat complex in Neni and Adazi Nnukwu, with plans to expand further to reach more youths.
Hon. Ibekwe also commended Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo for his unwavering support and empowerment initiatives, including the ongoing second phase of the “One Youth, Two Skills” program. He urged other local government chairmen to join in these efforts, recognizing the significant impact such programs can have on the socio-economic transformation of Anambra State and Nigeria as a whole.
In his closing remarks, Hon. Ibekwe called on all stakeholders to align with Governor Soludo’s development agenda, emphasizing the role of industrialization in creating a prosperous and self-sufficient society. Through inclusive governance and dedicated efforts, the Anaocha Local Government Area is on a promising path toward a brighter future for its youth.
