A Federal High Court in Lagos has sentenced 14 Chinese nationals to one year in prison each for cyberterrorism and internet fraud.

Justice Daniel Osiagor delivered the ruling on Friday after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) confirmed that the convicts had entered plea bargain agreements and changed their pleas to “guilty.”

The suspects were arrested in December 2024 during a sting operation targeting a cybercrime syndicate. They were found guilty of crimes that violated Nigeria’s Cybercrime Act.

Each convict was given an option of a N1 million fine. The court also ordered the forfeiture of all recovered items and mandated their deportation to China upon completing their sentences.
