The United States government has issued a warning to Nigerian travelers about the consequences of overstaying their visas. The US Mission in Nigeria emphasized that violators could face a permanent ban from re-entering the country.
Travelers who overstay for more than 180 days but less than a year may face a three-year ban, while those exceeding one year could face a 10-year ban. Repeat offenders could face a lifetime ban.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian government has raised concerns over the deportation of its nationals from the US. The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, called for a more humane approach to repatriation, highlighting the financial and emotional strain on Nigerian families.
