In Finland, prosecutors have charged a man identified by Finnish media as Nigerian separatist leader Simon Ekpa with public incitement to terrorism and participating in a terrorist group.

The Finnish National Prosecution Authority stated the offences occurred in Lahti between 2021 and 2024, tied to efforts to declare Biafra independent from Nigeria. Ekpa, who leads a self-proclaimed Biafran government in exile, was arrested in November and remains in custody, denying the charges.

Known for spreading disinformation, Ekpa also served on a transport committee in Lahti. Charges against four others suspected of financing his activities have been dropped for lack of evidence.
