A Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Court in Awka, Anambra State, has sentenced a 34-year-old teacher, Pascal Ofomata, to 12 years in prison for sexually abusing his 11-year-old male JSS1 student.
Presided over by Justice Peace Otti, the court found Ofomata guilty of violating Sections 3(1), 4(1), and 35(2) of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law and the Child’s Right Law of Anambra State.
Though Ofomata denied full penetration, he admitted to acts of sexual abuse during police interrogation.

The court barred him from working with minors in any institution. Justice Otti praised Prosecutor Chinelo Akorah for her dedication, while Commissioner Ify Obinabo hailed the judgment as justice for the boy-child.
