The Abia State Government has issued a stern warning against illegal revenue collection in Ohafia Local Government Area.

Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu said on Monday that no individual or group is authorized to collect fees on behalf of the government without official backing from the State Board of Internal Revenue.

This follows a recent incident where two persons were assaulted over unlawful tolls allegedly imposed by youths in Ebem Ohafia.

Emetu directed the State Taskforce in the Ohafia Zone to intensify monitoring efforts and restore order.

He urged residents to report illegal activities and assured citizens of the government’s commitment to transparency and protection from exploitation.
