The New Anambra State was created on August 27, 1991, by the military President of Nigeria, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida.
General Babangida split the old Anambra State (which had its capital in Enugu and included present-day Enugu State and parts of Ebonyi) into two separate states: the new Anambra State and Enugu State.
General Babangida said his reason for creating states then was to bring governance closer to the grassroots and take development to previously neglected rural communities.
Governor Soludo delivered Live Broadcast as part of activities marking Anambra State at 35, focusing on Environment with the theme, Our Environment, Our Future.. Our Collective Responsibility”
