Rangers International FC continued their impressive campaign in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) on Sunday, October 4, 2026, recording a convincing 3-1 victory over Abia Warriors at the Awka Township Stadium.
The match also provided a memorable moment for Rangers forward Godwin Obaje, who was honoured before kick-off for reaching the landmark of 100 league goals in his career.

The striker responded to the recognition in style, scoring Rangers’ opening goal in the 37th minute to take his league tally to 101 goals.
Rangers captain Chidiebere Nwobodo doubled the advantage in the 50th minute, putting the home side firmly in control. Abia Warriors responded seven minutes later through Obioma Chukwuemeka, reducing the deficit and giving the visitors hope of a comeback.
Rangers, however, remained composed and continued to press for another goal. Their efforts paid off in the 90th minute when Daniel Akolade found the net to seal a 3-1 victory for the Flying Antelopes.
Speaking after the encounter, Rangers head coach Fidelis Ilechukwu commended his players for their performance and the important victory, while stressing that the team must remain focused on the games ahead.

Abia Warriors coach Imama Amapakabo said his side created more chances during the match but lacked the luck to convert them. He also expressed his reservations over an incident in the closing stages which, according to him, should have attracted a card.
Rangers General Manager Amobi Ezeaku commended the match officials, his players and Abia Warriors for their efforts, describing the encounter as a good contest.
The victory further strengthens Rangers’ position in the NPFL and adds another significant chapter to the club’s campaign, while Obaje’s 101st league goal provides an additional landmark for the Rangers striker.
