The Assistant Inspector General of Police in-charge of the Zone-13 of the Nigeria Police Force, AIG Danmallam Mohammed, alongside his entourage visited the 3:3 Division, 54 PMF and Area Command Oraifite respectively.
He cautioned against illegal arrest and detention; molestation of citizens and extortion of the members of the public, and charged police officers in the station to be up and doing in the discharge of their duties and be more close to the community they’re protecting.
In a release, the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Nkiru Nwode, revealed that the AIG also visited the Area Command and Central Police Station, Onitsha.
There, the AIG praised the Officers and men for their doggedness and further passed his message of the imperatives of the police to be friendly with the law-abiding citizens under their jurisdiction of assignment.
At the Niger Bridge Onitsha, AIG Danmallam supervised traffic control and ensured that there was no hitch, but free flow of traffic.
The AIG with his entourage was elated by the invigorating solidarity members of the public gave to them at the Niger Bridge, Onitsha and assured them that Zone-13 would do everything within its strength to give the people the best of policing services and return the confidence the public once had in the police.
AIG Danmallam beseeched members of the public to join the police in their drive to restore sanity and decorum in Anambra and Enugu States, and also, thanked Ndi Anambra for their co-orporation so far in the effort to contain the resurgent unrest in the state resulting from the nationwide youths protest.
The AIG appealed to community leaders, traditional rulers, and religious heads to work with the Commissioners of Police incharge of their States Command and as well the DPO’s in their respective localities to achieve maximum security of lives and property.
He urged commuters of all kinds to report cases of corruption and extortion by police to the Zonal Emergency Number “08060463492 or reach nearest police stations to lodge their complaints.
he AIG encouraged law-abiding members of the society in Anambra and Enugu States to go about their businesses and report any clandestine activities and movements in their vicinities to the police and sister security agencies for hitch-free yuletide moments.
He reiterated the significance of the CPs and the PCRC to convoke stakeholders meetings to brainstorm on the best ways to tackle insecurity and operational misunderstanding between members of the public and the force in their respective areas of responsibility.
