The planned strike of Airlines Operators in Nigeria which was meant to take effect from today May 9 has been shelved. In a statement signed by operators in Nigeria and made public to newsmen in Lagos, the operators informed the public that following calls of concern from stakeholders in Nigeria and the government’s promises to intervene in the crises faced by the high cost of JET A1, they decided to withdraw the action for the time while they plan for a fresh round of dialogue with the government in the hope of reaching a peaceful solution.
The statement also said that the consideration was in line with the challenges Nigerians would have faced if the access to travel was hindered. According to the statement, as reported by the News Agency Of Nigeria, six members of the Operators association signed the statement, including Executive Director Max Air; Dr Obiora Okonkwo, Chairman Air Peace, and Mr Allen Onyema among others.
