Report has it that an unidentified driver of a truck that was carrying drinks up a hill along Nnewi-Nnobi road @7:07 am, jackknifed and blocked the road. As an result of that, an unregistered Tanker and a bus with registration number AA904JJT crashed into it.
In a statement released by Road Safety SPEO , SRC Florence N Edor, eyewitness report said a total of 6 male adults were on board. Two male adults who sustained varying degrees of injuries were taken to Our Ladies Hospital Umuoji by sympathizers before the arrival of FRSC rescue team from Nnewi Command while a male adult was confirmed dead by the doctor at the hospital.
The Sector Commander , Corps Commander Andrew A Kumapayi condoled with the deceased family and prayed for speedy recovery for the injured.
He also admonished motorist to avoid speeding and overloading of their vehicles during this period. He also stressed the importance of concentrating on the road while driving to avoid crashing into a stationary vehicle.
