Anambra APC Hails Tinubu On PEPT Victory, Advises Opposition
Anambra State Chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the party for their resounding three-point victory in the Presidential Elections Petition Tribunal (PEPT) which sat in the Court of Appeal.
A congratulatory message signed by the state Publicity Secretary of the party, Okelo Madukaife, on 9th September, 2023, on behalf of the state chapter of the party, said the victory was predictable and predicted on the basis of what they knew about election petitions and their sui genesis nature, drawing from experiences shared with some of the parties in the matters in the past.
According to the message, the latest positive outcome avails the right atmosphere to refocus on governance and deliver the goods in line with the RENEWED HOPE AGENDA.
The congratulatory message read:
“The dynamic Anambra State Chapter of our great party, All Progressives Congress (APC) congratulates President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and our great party for their resounding three-point victory in the Presidential Elections Petition Tribunal (PEPT), which sat in the Court of Appeal.
“This victory was predictable and predicted on the basis of what we know about election petitions and their sui genesis nature, drawing from experiences shared with some of the parties in the matters in the past.
“The latest positive outcome avails the right atmosphere to refocus on governance and deliver the goods in line with the RENEWED HOPE AGENDA.
“We also congratulate Their Excellencies, Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and Gov. Peter Obi for the victories they won in their respective suits, on specific issues in the preliminary motions.
“This is without prejudice to the right of APC to cross-appeal on those aspects should the legal teams consider it necessary.
“We note the indication of both Atiku and Obi to appeal to the Supreme Court for a final verdict. It is a constitutional right. “They are necessary parties, and we welcome their decision to further the growth of the nation’s jurisprudence and democracy alike.
“As henceforth, we do not expect that having a verdict of a higher court in place agreeing with the declaration of INEC on February 25,2023, there is any need for any of the parties and their political platform(s) to interfere with the ambience of the nation through disruptive street activities dwelling on the same subject matter before the Supreme Court, as was witnessed in time past.
“We insist that like Caesar’s wife, the judiciary should be beyond public reproach, even when like all institutions they could be criticized, particularly if such criticisms are objective, targeted at improvements and are deployed in the right channels in good language.
“To remind those who know, and inform those who do not,the right channel to ventilate grievances arising from misconduct in the judiciary in Nigeria is to petition the National Judicial Council, levelling specific allegations against specific judicial officers and going ahead to support such Petition with evidence.
“In the same vein, the right channel to ventilate grievances arising from the verdict of a court is the path already chosen by Atiku and Obi, which is incompatible with unleashing hoodlums to the streets and compounding security issues being tackled.
“In this wise, we urge Vice President Abubakar and Gov. Obi to advise their supporters accordingly, against the use of wrong channels and putrid language unbecoming of our nation,so that responsibility would not be attributed to the candidates,as is being done already.
“Still as part of the growth of legal knowledge, political knowledge and institutional memory,we advise as many as can do so, to patiently read the 798-page judgement of September 06, 2023 rather than depend on biased reportage.
“Once again, we congratulate President Tinubu for his predicted victory and look forward to a very successful tenure in a restructured Nigeria with steady power supply, home- produced mixed fuel/energy,all round democracy including every local government in Nigeria, and minimal poverty in the land”, the message concluded.
