The Anambra State government has congratulated the Executive Chairman of the Anambra State Physical Planning Board (ANSPPB), Barrister Chukwunweike Francis Maduekwe, on winning the Beacon of ICT Award on eGovernment Solutions Implementation.

The award plaque was presented to Barrister Maduekwe last month at the 12th Beacon of Information and Communication Technology Lecture and Awards at Eko Hotels and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.

This feat has placed Anambra State on top of e-Government solutions implementation.

It is indeed remarkable that ANSPPB garnered the democratic votes because of internet solutions the board adopted in the state that crashed building approval processes/time from three months to one week or less, according to the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, C. Don Adinuba, who disclosed that Governor Willie Obiano called the Physical Planning Board chairman on hearing the news to congratulate him on bringing immense honour to the state.

Barrister Maduekwe commended Governor Obiano for his policies and programmes which have resulted in improved access to broadband Internet service in the state.

According to him, the improved access to broadband internet service has a huge positive impact on the people and the economy.

He praised Anambra for being the first state in Nigeria to completely waive the Right-of-Way (RoW) charges for fiber optic cables, recalling how the state organized earlier in the year the first broadband stakeholder’s forum which was attended virtually by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Ali Pantami; Governor of Kaduna State, Nasri Elrufai; Governor Willie Obiano; the UK representative; the Facebook Team and other ICT and Telecom stakeholders.

The Anambra example fitted quite well into the address of the founder of Nigeria Communications Week, organizers of BOICT Awards, Ken Nwogbo who said the year’s theme “5G: Exploring New Frontiers For Superior Service Delivery” was adopted because of the “buzz around 5G network”.
