Anambra CP Itam Commends Anambra Govt, Lawmakers For Signing Anti Cultism, Anti-Touting Bill Into Law
Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has commended the State Government and State House of Assembly members, as Governor Soludo has signed into law, a jail term of a minimum of twenty one years, with no option of fine, for anybody found culpable of cult-related activities.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement yesterday, also noted that the state government also approved the legal confinement of six months or the option of half a million naira fine on anyone harassing innocent individuals to obtain illegal tolls, illegal scalpers, or any related activities in the State.
The Police Commissioner noted that these developments will further re-echo their campaign and stand against touting and cultism, especially the Police on the advocacy program; termed, “Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices” POCAVCO,
He said that this is a program targeted to sensitize the youths on the dangers of bad groups, drugs, and other vices.
The CP, therefore, warned criminal elements in the guise to repent as the Command will ensure that anyone found culpable will be made to face the full weight of the law.
He also urged parents/guardians to
admonish their children/wards in that regard.
